Melanotan 2 in Laboratory Research

Melanotan 2 is a cyclic, truncated analog of alpha-MSH. Its ring structure confers metabolic stability, and unlike Melanotan 1 it engages several melanocortin-receptor subtypes rather than favouring MC1R.

In controlled laboratory settings it is used as a broad-spectrum melanocortin agonist for comparative receptor work.
